Romanucci & Blandin to Represent Victim of Lake Zurich High School Abuse and Hazing

Posted on: November 17th, 2016 by Romanucci & Blandin

CHICAGO – (November 16, 2016) Personal injury law firm, Romanucci & Blandin, announced today that it has been retained by the family of a student-athlete who fell victim to the abuses and hazing taking place on the football team at Lake Zurich High School in Lake Zurich, Illinois. Principal and Partner, Antonio M. Romanucci, who handled a recent Northwest Suburban Chicagoland High School District hazing lawsuit and settlement, will be leading the firm’s efforts.

Incidents of widespread, egregious abuse and hazing on the Lake Zurich High School’s football team over the last few months were recently reported and have led to the suspension of head coach David Proffitt and assistant Chad Beaver, raising red flags in the community, and ignoring established policies and principles against hazing and bullying.

“Based upon what we now know about the abuse and hazing taking place on the Lake Zurich High School football team, I am greatly concerned,” said Romanucci. “Incidents of hazing are far too prevalent in our schools. Our team will now be taking the appropriate next steps to ensure that questions and concerns around this widespread abuse which went on for far too long, including the lack of enforcement from school officials, are addressed.”

Romanucci has called many times before for stronger laws, rules and regulations that govern activities like bullying and hazing. He was integral in the efforts to pass House Bill 1443 in August of 2013 with Illinois State Representative Martin J. Moylan which in-short, holds school officials accountable for failure to report incidents of hazing. “No student should ever feel they are in danger at school,” he said. “Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 must be held accountable.”
