Bryce T. Hensley

Attorney at Law

: 312-253-8800

:

Bryce T. Hensley is an attorney at Romanucci & Blandin, LLC, where he helps manage the firm’s complex litigation group representing individual and classes of victims of toxic exposures, product defects, civil rights violations, fraud, sexual harassment, and other catastrophic personal injuries and wrongful death.

Bryce was inspired to serve as an attorney representing those injured by the wrongful conduct of others, recognizing that earning a law degree is a tremendous privilege and provides the opportunity to help those who are most vulnerable and in need.

In just his first few years as an attorney, Bryce has made a name for himself in Chicago and nationwide litigating numerous high-profile mass tort and class action cases. In helping manage the firm’s complex litigation practice, he represents over 70 victims of the Las Vegas shooting, which along with thousands of others, settled their cases for $800 million. Bryce also represents victims of Sterigenics’ ethylene oxide emissions in Willowbrook, Illinois; users of Zantac now diagnosed with cancer around the country; consumers defrauded by ComEd’s bribery of elected officials in Illinois; the Boeing airlines crash in Ethiopia; and police misconduct in the City of Chicago.

In October 2019, Bryce was appointed as the Plaintiffs’ Liaison Counsel in the Sterigenics litigation by the Circuit Court of Cook County. In that position, he is the representative of the nearly two dozen firms representing victims in the litigation before the Court and with defendants’ counsel. In August 2020, he orchestrated one of the largest filings in Cook County history with over 700 individual lawsuits filed against Sterigenics and other defendants. He is now responsible for the coordination, organization, and management of all of the over 750 pending claims in the litigation.

Bryce has also tried cases alongside Principal and Partner, Antonio M. Romanucci. While still a law clerk, his knowledge of litigation technology and trial strategy was instrumental in winning a $44.7 million verdict against the City of Chicago for Michael D. LaPorta. This is the largest verdict ever returned in a police misconduct lawsuit against the city of Chicago and in the state of Illinois.

Bryce has briefed, argued, and won numerous motions and appeals in state and federal courts. Most notably, in December 2018, just over a year into practice, he argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and reversed the District Court’s grant of summary judgment against his client. (Lewis v. City of Shreveport, et al., 765 Fed. Appx. 93 (5th Cir. 2019).

Bryce has also assisted settling numerous individual cases during this time, including: a $2.1 million settlement against the Archdiocese of Chicago for the sexual abuse of a minor child; a $2.25 million settlement against a multi-purpose arena in a premises liability case that resulted in a client suffering a fractured ankle and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS); and a $610,000 settlement on behalf of a client with a herniated disc due to an automobile collision.

In law school at Chicago-Kent, Bryce graduated in the top eight percent of his class, earning him the honor of graduating magna cum laude and as a member of the Order of the Coif. While there, Bryce was the captain of the school’s nationally-ranked trial advocacy team, where he earned the Best Advocate Award at the National Tournament of Champions in San Francisco, California. Bryce was also one of just 16 individual students selected from around the country to attend the prestigious Top Gun Trial Competition at Baylor University.

In the classroom, Bryce earned the CALI award for achieving the highest grade in six of his classes. Bryce served as a teaching assistant for multiple semesters and upon graduation was inducted into the school’s Bar and Gavel Society for his extensive service and dedication to the law school community.

Bryce earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013. He is a graduate of St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
