Food Poisoning | Romanucci & Blandin
When toxins, pathogens or parasites contaminate a food source, food poisoning or foodborne illness occurs. Illness can be caused if the contaminated food is eaten. The CDC reports that approximately 48 million people get food poisoning every year, 128,000 are hospitalized and 3,000 die of foodborne diseases. Many of these cases are mild, but in the instances of severe food poisoning, people can develop very serious illnesses or even can die from it. If you or a loved one has been the victim of food poisoning or a foodborne illness, RB Law’s personal injury and wrongful death attorneys will help you with your case against the seller of the food or the food processor of the contaminated food.
It can be difficult to prove that an illness was due to a particular food. The victim of the food poisoning has to prove negligence or intentional wrongdoing when the food was handled, prepared or stored. The victim must also prove that there was intentional wrongdoing or negligence that was the cause of the food becoming contaminated. Lastly, the victim also needs to prove that they became ill because of the contaminated food. It can be very challenging to take on a food poisoning lawsuit without the help of a food poisoning personal injury attorney. RB Law can help you find the expert witnesses you will need to help you with your case.
