Record $10M settlement reached in Sonya Massey police shooting
The law firms for Massey’s estate, Ben Crump Law and Romanucci & Blandin, announced the settlement and their next steps in seeking justice for Massey and her family during a virtual press conference Wednesday.
The case has garnered nationwide attention as it raised questions over the law enforcement hiring process. Sean Grayson, the deputy who shot Massey, had reportedly worked for six departments in four years before he was hired by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department.
