Tyre Nichols’ parents ask for meeting with Gov. Bill Lee
Tyre Nichols’ parents have released a letter asking to sit down with Gov. Bill Lee before he signs a bill that would ban traffic ordinances passed by city council.
“Governor, we urge you to use your veto pen to prevent this dangerous legislation from becoming law. This bill threatens to undermine critical municipal police reforms enacted in response to the tragic death of our son, Tyre Nichols,” the letter reads.
The state Senate passed a law Thursday, March 14, that would prevent local jurisdictions from passing ordinances banning pretextual traffic stops.
