Chicago Law Firm Retained by Victim of Beach Park Hazardous Chemical Spill

April 26, 2019

Attorneys from Romanucci & Blandin, LLC have been retained to represent a victim of the hazardous chemical spill in Beach Park, Illinois. The firm announced today that it has launched an investigation into the ammonia spill, demanding full transparency and accountability from the possible responsible parties whose released chemicals have already caused serious health issues for over 35 individuals in the area who have been taken to hospitals for treatment.

In the early morning hours of April 25th, anhydrous ammonia began spilling out onto an intersection in Beach Park from a valve hooked to two tanks being pulled by a tractor-trailer type vehicle. A cloud of toxic gas took over the area making it extremely difficult for people to see and breath. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, anhydrous ammonia is a colorless gas that can cause breathing difficulties, burns, blisters and is fatal if breathed in high concentrations.

“Yesterday’s hazardous chemical spill in Beach Park was extremely frightening for our client who left his home around 5:00 a.m. for work Thursday morning and began suffering from burning and pain in his nose, throat and respiratory tract. Tightening and pain in his chest also caused him to have difficulty breathing, and have left him hospitalized and undergoing treatment,” said Antonio M. Romanucci, Founding Partner at Romanucci & Blandin, LLC. “We have been hired to investigate the harmful effects of this toxic exposure and to figure out exactly what caused this horrific event to take place. If our investigation does in fact reveal negligence on anyone’s part that resulted in the needless and unnecessary poisoning of area residents, we will then pursue a lawsuit.”

“We have already begun an investigation into what caused the spill, who the responsible parties are and will be demanding full transparency from everyone possibly involved,” added Romanucci & Blandin Senior Counsel, Joseph E. Kolar. “The residents of this community and throughout Illinois deserve answers and solutions to ensure that something like this never happens again,” said Robert S. Baizer, Senior Counsel at Romanucci & Blandin.
