Club Q shooter gets massive federal prison sentence for hate crimes and firearms charges
DENVER (June 18, 2024) – Anderson Aldrich, the convicted gunman who killed five people and wounded nearly two dozen others at the Club Q LGBTQAI+ nightclub, was sentenced this morning to an additional 50 life sentences plus 190 years in prison without parole for federal hate crime and gun charges. Last year, Anderson was sentenced to five life sentences by the Colorado state court, one for each of the fatalities in the November 19, 2022 mass shooting. The federal sentencing took place in Denver this morning.
Romanucci & Blandin Founding Partner Antonio M. Romanucci, Partner David A. Neiman and Senior Attorney Sarah Raisch and local counsel Dan Lipman of Parker Lipman represent multiple families who lost loved ones and those who were wounded at Club Q.
The legal team issued a statement:
“The federal sentence today adds a significant symbolic burden of time to the multiple life sentences already determined by state court, but these additional years for hate crimes and gun charges send an essential message to both the shooter in this case and to anyone considering committing such a heinous crime in the future. Our communities simply will not and cannot tolerate acts of mass violence – and particularly mass violence against the LGBTQAI+ community or anyone because of their identity. We must continue to prosecute these mass shooting cases to the greatest extent we can. Our clients deserve that as they continue to process their trauma and fight for the accountability and systemic change they deserve.”
