Romanucci & Blandin, LLC Partner, Frank A. Sommario Named Secretary of the National Italian American Bar Association

On June 7, 2019 at the Superior Court in New Haven, Connecticut, the Honorable Lubbie Harper, Jr. (Ret.) of the Connecticut Supreme Court conducted an induction ceremony for the National Italian American Bar Association (NIABA) Officers and Directors. Of those introduced and sworn to an oath of service was Romanucci & Blandin, LLC, Partner, Frank A. Sommario who will serve as Secretary of the association for the 2019-2021 term.  

NIABA originated in 1982 in Los Angeles, California and expanded across the United States with its initial organizational meeting held in April 1983 at Tiro a Signo, a private club located in Greenwich Village. Comprised of lawyers who support, promote, and exemplify the best traditions of law, history, and culture arising from Italy, the Association has been in continuous and very active service to lawyers around the country for over three decades. 

Elected as NIABA President was Francis M. Donnarumma, of Connecticut. Elected as Officers were: Executive Vice President, Damian D. Capozzola of California, Treasurer, P. Charles DiLorenzo of New Jersey, and Secretary, Frank A. Sommario of Illinois.  Also from Illinois, Kenneth Jenero, Partner of Holland & Knight, LLP, was re-appointed as Regional Vice-President of the Midwest.

Sommario began his membership with NIABA in 2000. He has served on the Board of Directors since 2017 and has been active in the association by chairing the Budget Committee as well as working on several other committees. 

“I am honored to serve the National Italian American Bar Association in my new role as Secretary,” said Sommario. “We have an incredible group of leaders serving on the Board this year and I am looking forward to working with each of them to serve our organization and Italian-American legal community at large to the best of our abilities.” 

For his successes representing injury victims, Sommario has proudly been named one of The Best Lawyers in America© since 2017. In 2019, he was named to the prominent Illinois Super Lawyers ‘Top 100’ List. He had previously been named as one of Illinois’ Super Lawyers for 2016-2018, and one of Illinois’ Rising Stars by Super Lawyers® for the years 2010-2015. Additionally, he was named a Leading Lawyer by Law Bulletin Publishing Company’s Leading Lawyers Division for 2016-2019. Sommario was also named to Law Bulletin Publishing Company’s “40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 to Watch for 2012.” Sommario served as President of the Justinian Society of Lawyers in 2017 and is a past President of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association (WCLA). He served two, three-year terms on the Board of Governors of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA). He is also a member of the national and state trial lawyers’ associations, as well as of the alumni associations of DePaul University, DePaul University College of Law, and Fenwick High School.
