Romanucci & Blandin Partners Take Part in Justinian Society Event to Benefit Maryville Children’s Healthcare Center

March 22, 2021

Romanucci & Blandin, LLC announces that several of its attorneys, including Founding Partner Antonio M. Romanucci and Partner Frank A. Sommario, took part in the Justinian Society of Lawyers 19th annual Children’s Endowment Fund (CEF) Grant Reception on March 18, 2021. Justinian President Hon. Regina Scannicchio and Justinian Society’s Endowment Fund Chairman Sommario presented a $5,000.00 grant to the Maryville Academy – Maryville Children’s Healthcare Center (CHC).

The Justinian Endowment Fund, the fundraising arm of the Justinian Society of Lawyers, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, which consists of the Scholarship Fund and the CEF.  Currently, the CEF has over $188,000.00 and the Scholarship Fund has over $120,000.00 in their accounts, and these monies have been raised by its members over the years, as well as contributed by other donors.  Each year, the scholarship fund awards scholarships to deserving law students and the CEF awards an annual grant to a worthy recipient.  The CEF specially thanked Joseph Feinberg and the Feinberg Foundation for their consistent annual donations of significant amounts of money to the CEF.  This year the Justinian Society of Lawyers will be celebrating its Centennial Anniversary on October 21, 2021, where it hopes to raise much more for these two funds in order to continue giving back to the community.

Due to Covid-19 concerns and social distancing requirements, instead of an in-person event, this was conducted as a virtual Zoom event, which included a virtual mixology class featuring unMuddled Bartending Company, which demonstrated the preparation of a Gavel Gimlet, an Old-Fashioned and a Maryville Mule.  Daniela Krivac, Grants Manager of Maryville Academy was on hand to graciously accept the grant and provide a short video of what Maryville Academy is about and explained how the grant money would be used.

The mission of the CEF is to assist disabled or disadvantaged children in our community. Since establishing the CEF in 2002 during his term as president, Mr. Romanucci and his fellow Justinian members have raised crucial funds for a wide range of recipients, including Make-A-Wish Foundation, Bear Necessities, Ronald McDonald House of Chicagoland, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Reflections Foundation, Shriners Hospitals for Children and many others.

During this Zoom presentation, Mr. Romanucci made a spontaneous personal donation, and many members of the Society followed his lead, by making additional donations to the CEF, which will be tabulated and directed to Maryville Academy as an additional donation.  This generosity has been done in the past at in-person events, but it was extra special given the constraints of a virtual event.

“The Justinian Society is fervent in giving back to our community,” said Romanucci & Blandin Partner and past Justinian President Frank A. Sommario. “Maryville Academy is an incredibly worthy recipient of these funds and we commend all that they do for children that are in need.”

Maryville Academy’s CHC provides highly skilled nursing care and transitional hospital-to-home services for pediatric patients from underserved, low-income, at-risk families living in the Chicago metropolitan area with complex medical conditions or chronic illnesses.
