Romanucci & Blandin reaches $325,000 settlement for worker struck by a truck in Northwest Indiana

February 18, 2022

Romanucci & Blandin, LLC – a national personal injury firm primarily based in Chicago – announces a settlement of $325,000 for a worker who was struck by a truck while trying to get his car keys.

The plaintiff was 30-years-old when he was struck by a truck in Northwest Indiana on January 2, 2018. He had just finished work for his second job driving a truck to Chicago.  The plaintiff worked this job as a supplement to his landscaping job in order to provide for his family, including 4 children. After leaving work, the plaintiff realized he had forgotten his keys across the street and returned to go get them. After looking both ways, he crossed to the middle of the road where he was standing in the median waiting for traffic to pass when he was struck by the defendant driver’s truck coming from the other direction.

The settlement was reached January 11, 2022, and the names of the parties involved are not being released.

The plaintiff suffered degloving injuries to the lower portions of both legs, requiring intensive wound care and a skin graft procedure. After litigating the case for multiple years in Indiana state court, Romanucci & Blandin – with the help of local counsel at Pfeifer, Morgan and Stesiak, and others – resolved the matter.
