Romanucci & Blandin secures $2 million settlement in a medical malpractice case alleging a failure to recommend prompt medical attention for symptoms of a blood clot led to a fatal pulmonary embolism

CHICAGO (February 9, 2023) – Romanucci & Blandin, LLC announces the $2,000,000 settlement on behalf of the family of a woman whose doctor failed to recommend prompt medical attention for symptoms of deep vein thrombosis, which ultimately led to her death at 38-years-old. The settlement was secured by a medical malpractice legal team led by Partner Michael E. Holden and Senior Counsel Robert S. Baizer. In this matter, a young wife and mother of two reported new-onset calf pain after a lumbar microdiscectomy procedure. In a telephone consultation, the physician did not recommend prompt medical attention to rule out a blood clot. The patient collapsed and died the next day from a massive acute pulmonary embolism stemming from an undiagnosed and untreated deep vein thrombosis.
