Statement on Highland Park Mass Shooter guilty plea from legal team representing nearly 50 victims
Statement from the legal team representing nearly 50 victims of the Highland Park Fourth of July mass shooting:
"The members of the Highland Park community whose lives were forever changed on July 4, 2022, now share relief at today's guilty plea. They have been patiently waiting for justice to be served and are now processing the swift turn of events in court this morning. However, the guilty plea on all 69 counts of murder and attempted murder is not the final chapter for our clients. They will be present at the sentencing on April 23 and will tell their personal stories to the court, and they are steadfastly committed to pursuing justice in their ongoing civil litigation against this individual and others, including Smith & Wesson and the companies that sold the assault weapon that was used in the shooting. We are all grateful to the Lake County State's Attorneys Office for their years of work on this important case."
