Romanucci & Blandin Of Counsel Hon. Bruno J. Tassone (Ret.) honored with Justinian Award of Excellence at the 2023 Justinian Annual Installation & Awards Dinner

CHICAGO (September 22, 2023) — Romanucci & Blandin, LLC, a national personal injury firm primarily based in Chicago, is pleased to announce that retired Cook County Judge Bruno J. Tassone, Of Counsel to Romanucci & Blandin, has received the Justinian Award of Excellence by the Justinian Society of Lawyers (JSOL). The award and title were presented at the September 21, 2023, Annual Installation and Awards Dinner held at Galleria Marchetti in Chicago.

Hon. Tassone joins the ranks of Romanucci & Blandin attorneys who have held positions with or been awarded by the Justinian Society.  Founding Partner Antonio M. Romanucci, himself a prior President of the JSOL in 2002, spent a decade on the JSOL Executive Committee. Senior Partner Frank A. Sommario, a member of the JSOL since law school, has held numerous roles within the organization, most notably Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice President three times prior to being installed as the President in 2016. Partner Bruno R. Marasso, who has also held numerous positions within the JSOL, passed on the mantle of the President, a role he held since last year’s Annual Installation & Awards Dinner.

The Honorable Bruno Tassone, retired from the position of Associate Judge of Cook County since 1988, has had a notable career practicing law spanning over 45 years. During his time as a Judge, Hon. Tassone was awarded the Distinguished Jurist Award by the Chicago Bar Association and was rated Highly Qualified by the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA). His dedication to excellence, the practice of law, and criminal reform may best be exemplified by his formulation of a Theft Deterrent Program for first-time shoplifting defendants, a successful program in Cook County which was in effect long after he retired. After leaving the bench, Hon. Tassone was elected to and served on the Board of Governors of the ISBA, served in the ISBA Assembly, held the position of Chair of the ADR Section, and was named one of the Top Ten Mediators/Arbitrators in Illinois by Chicago Magazine in both 2005 and 2006.

Since the founding of the Justinian Society of Lawyers in 1921, this venerable institution has become one of the largest ethnic bar associations in the United States.
