Background
Michael D. Cerasa is a Partner at Romanucci & Blandin, with 20 years of experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in the personal injury field, incorporating several high-profile, multi-state cases such as a successful lawsuit against BP Oil for almost 200 business owners for damages due to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
At Romanucci & Blandin, Michael represents plaintiffs who have been injured in premises liability accidents, trucking accidents, construction and workplace accidents, and those that result from defective products.
He has been named a National Trial Lawyers 100 attorney, a Florida Super Lawyer and a Florida Super Lawyers Rising Star.
Before joining Romanucci & Blandin, Michael was most recently a Partner at VanDerGinst Law PC, where he was part of a multi-state personal injury practice and managed a staff of 12, overseeing hundreds of cases from intake to trial. Michael also ran his own law firm for nearly a decade, leading pre-litigation and litigation teams while conducting thorough investigations into accident scenes, collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and collaborating with accident reconstruction experts to build strong cases. He represented clients in negotiations with insurance companies, ensuring they received fair settlements or litigated cases in court when necessary. Michael began his career as an insurance defense attorney at RumbergerKirk. After his first few years as a lawyer, he switched to the plaintiffs' bar with Colling Gilbert Wright and represented clients in nursing home negligence, premises liability, and car accident cases prior to two years as Managing Partner of Pearson Bitman LLP.
He is admitted to practice in Florida, Illinois, Iowa and United States District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois, the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida, the Eastern District of Louisiana, the Eastern District of New York, the District of West Virginia, and the Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Michael graduated from Clemson University in 2001 with a B.A. in Political Science and Government. He graduated with his Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law in 2005.
In his free time, Michael enjoys watching his Clemson Tigers play football, traveling, boating, and watching his daughters play soccer and basketball. He lives in Chicago with his three children.
